A very old, beautiful church in Toronto recently underwent a complete renovation and needed several styles of wooden railings. Its congregation called us for help replacing the aging balcony railings and staircase railings of its choir loft. These railings were huge, ornately carved wood that, unfortunately, had not been well taken care of over their decades of service. The church’s followers hoped to restore as many of the wooden railings as they could, but they knew that most would have to be replaced. When properly maintained, wooden railings for indoor applications can last a lifetime, but nothing lasts forever. With so much ornate wood to refurbish or replace, the church hoped we could provide an economical solution. We discussed their options and listened to their concerns, then showed them what we had to offer.
Wooden Railings Restore Beauty and Safety
At Toronto Railings, we understood that besides restoring the beauty of this old church, the wooden railings had a specific job to do. No matter how pretty they were, these railings were there to insure the safety of the congregation, and that meant no shortcuts. Besides the wooden railings of the choir loft and staircases, the railings that lined the raised pulpit were in rough shape as well. Even though these wooden railings weren’t a safety concern, just because of their condition, they needed to be replaced. In the end, the church’s family elected to replace all the wooden railings in their chapel.
Even though you may not need to replace as many railings as our friends at the church did, we know that we have the materials and know-how to handle your needs. Our knowledgeable staff is ready to find the style that is right for you.
