Staircase railings in Toronto Basement

August 18, 2013 By Toronto Railings

When a Toronto family wanted to do something special with their unfinished basement, we were among the first people they called. Staircase railings for their project was at the top of the list. Their children had grown up and started families of their own, and now, with several grandchildren around, they wanted a space set aside just for family recreation. Since they had talked about doing something with that old unfinished basement for years, and had no available space left above ground, this seemed like the obvious choice. They discussed their plans with us in detail, brought up a few minor concerns about the safety of their grandkids, and asked us for our professional opinion. We were delighted to be a part of their project, and showed them the variety of styles and materials we could use.

Beautiful – And Safe – Staircase Railings in Toronto

The wife had this vision of a large opening in the floor above the basement, with a lovely, curved staircase leading down into what they were calling the ‘play room.’ Surrounded by wooden railings, this opening would let them watch their grandchildren from the ground floor when they couldn’t be down there with them. To insure that everyone was safe, sturdy wooden railings would need to be placed all the way around the hole. According to her sketches, the staircase would start at the back wall of the living room, behind the hole, and curve back inward to follow the inside wall of the basement below. They also planned to put a temporary toddler gate at the top of the staircase, which they could take down when their grandchildren got older.
At Toronto Railings, we understand that a family’s needs are constantly changing. Since we have a large selection of materials and styles to work from, we are ready for whatever comes our way.

Hand Railings Secure the Future of Toronto Children

August 16, 2013 By Toronto Railings

Recently we received a phone call from a busy Toronto childcare center that wanted hand railings to act as an enclosure for their outdoor play area. This facility was in a high traffic area, and had gotten by for quite some time with a simple chain link fence. Over the years, however, the fence had begun to discolor, and had been damaged in several places by rowdy kids, severe weather, and even a wayward automobile. The center’s director felt that they needed to find a better way to protect their kids. Naturally, we were happy to help.

Peace of Mind from Hand Railings in Toronto

When we saw exactly what the center was trying to accomplish, we showed them a variety of styles and materials that would suit their needs, including our eco-friendly composite, which is made from recycled plastics, is weather resistant, and virtually indestructible. Besides looks and durability, the director wanted to be sure the enclosure was designed to prevent even the smallest children from slipping out of the yard. We pointed out a style that featured vertical slats with only inches between them, that we felt would fit the bill perfectly. The new enclosure was completed in just a few days and, besides being safe, durable and earth friendly, it looked great.

At Toronto Railings, we know that the safety of your children is always at the top of your list, and we wouldn’t expect anything less. By providing a secure enclosure for this center’s play ground, and by using environmentally sound building materials, we offered them a two-fold benefit for the future of their kids. We have the selection and the know-how to handle whatever hand railing application you care to send our way, whether inside or outside, upstairs or down.

If your Toronto home or business needs hand railings, give us a call. We are ready to serve you.

A Toronto Exterior Railings project to Help a Toronto Family Recover

August 7, 2013 By Toronto Railings

A Toronto family called us about exterior railings after their large, beautiful brick home was gutted by a fire. Thankfully, the family had been away at the time of the fire, but they were devastated by their loss, and wondered how they would ever come back from it. After affirming that the house was still structurally sound, they opted to return their home to its former glory, and they needed several types of railings to complete the project, including three different exterior railings. Working from a handful of family photos that had miraculously survived the blaze, we were able to provide comparable styles and materials for their various needs.

Many Different Jobs for exterior Railings

This large, stately home had a spacious entry area with a balcony looking down from the master bedroom. The other side of the master suite led out onto a terrace above the garage. And, at the top of the home’s sweeping staircase, an open walkway led to the various sleeping quarters.
Besides exterior railings, the reconstruction included wooden railings for the grand staircase, and new wrought iron railings on the terrace. The family also needed new rails for the basement stairs and felt that something simple and durable would be fine.
When all was said and done, Toronto Railings provided wrought iron railings, wooden railings and, for the basement stairs, a set of durable, eco-friendly composite railings, which are made from recycled plastics.. The family was delighted with the selection and styles we had to choose from and were grateful for all we did to help them get their lives back to normal.
At Toronto Railings, we know most people won’t require this level of service, or need so many different kinds of railing for their project. But no matter how big or small your job is, we are ready to handle it.

Tree House Wood Railings in Toronto

August 5, 2013 By Toronto Railings

Recently, we had the chance to meet a Toronto contractor who needed wood railings for a very unique project. This gentleman specialized in what he called “recreational construction.” He explained that he built backyard play structures for children and grown-ups alike. His most popular projects were wooden “forts” that incorporated swings, monkey bars, and upper floors with slides and swinging bridges. He had been approached by a family that wanted him to build a very sophisticated tree house that the whole family could enjoy.

Wood Railings is great for your Toronto backyard

This contractor had spent many years doing outdoor construction of almost every kind. Decks, pavilions, gazebos, and playhouses were all pretty common for him, but when he was asked to build a tree house of mammoth proportions, he simply couldn’t pass it up. The structure this family had in mind would occupy a large space between two huge old oak trees in their backyard, with a rope bridge leading to a smaller, free standing structure, similar to the playhouses he more frequently built. With such an involved project on his plate, he came to us for the various types of wood railings necessary to complete the job.
We showed him our selection of woods and styles, discussed the different advantages of the various materials, and answered his questions about durability and price. Finally, he decided that wood railings made from cedar would be the best choice.

Nothing excites a craftsman as much as knowing that his work is appreciated. For us, here at Toronto Railings, we are always thrilled to see our wood railings used in interesting new ways. We know that most people probably won’t need our railings for a tree house, but rest assured. No matter what your project calls for, when you need wood railings, give us a call. We are ready to serve you.

Steel Railings for a New Apartment Complex in Toronto

August 4, 2013 By Toronto Railings

Not long ago, we got a call from a Toronto property developer who had questions about steel railings for a new apartment complex. When completed, this new property would consist of nearly 500 units – a big job. The developers needed a variety of steel railings for the exterior stairways and upper floors of each unit. They wanted quality materials that would be durable and economical. Plus, since these would be stylish, high-end apartments, their steel railings needed to look great. We took the time to show the developer what we had available, and he found a style that suited his needs perfectly.

Stylish Steel Railings Add Class

Apartment complexes have very specific requirements when it comes to railings. One of a property developer’s biggest concerns is liability, since they have to consider the safety of their tenants and anyone else that happens to be on the property. Stairs, balconies, and upstairs walkways have to be safe, with no room for compromise. Since this developer had 70 individual buildings on the drawing board, he had enough on his mind without worrying about staircase and balcony railings. We assured him that the steel railings we provided would cover his safety concerns, and add that touch of class he needed for these sophisticated living spaces.
At Toronto Railings, we are used to big jobs. And with many styles and materials at our disposal, we have whatever the job calls for. Whether the application is inside or outside, upstairs or down, we can provide several options that are stylish, durable, and above all else, safe. If you need steel railings for a new construction or a renovation, for your home or your business, call us today and see what we can do for you! We know that we have exactly what you need.

Why choose M.E Railings for your Toronto railings project?

July 19, 2013 By Toronto Railings

When you think of remodeling your home, your mind likely steers towards a new bathroom, kitchen counters, or perhaps wood floors – but there is one item that is often overlooked that makes a world of difference to your home or business’ aesthetic while also providing safety to all occupants: railings. If you’re considering an update to your home or office, or building a new property, consider what M.E Railing can do for you.
There are a variety of different types of railings, each with their own purpose and unique set of features.

Glass Railings

Glass railings are a much newer type of railing than those from other more traditional materials, such as wood or wrought iron. Glass railings are a great, cost-effective option for both interior and exterior spaces and are an easy way to add a clean, modern look to your space. This type of railing is perfect for a variety of applications, including balconies, decks and stairway railings.
One unique benefit of glass railings is that they provide a safety barrier that does not obstruct the view or lighting – this characteristic makes them a favorite for outdoor balconies, as you keep your guests safe while also providing an unobstructed scenic view.
Another benefit is that this type of railing is relatively low maintenance – they are very weather resistant and, aside from some light occasional cleaning, you do not need to do much to maintain them.
Customize the design to your preferences with M.E Railing – options range in glass shape, curve, size, thickness, and more.

Staircase Railings

Staircase railings come in a variety of materials, including wrought iron, wood and metals. This term is used primarily for railings used for exterior spaces, such as decks or patios, as they provide safety and support.
Wrought iron and wood are perfect for exterior railings on traditional structures, while metal staircases made from aluminum or steel provide a modern twist. When selecting which type of staircase railing is right for your structure, take into consideration both your own preferences as well as the structure’s own building style. For example, a modern steel staircase may be beautiful, but likely won’t fit in with a traditional brick-facade home.
Staircase railings contain multiple components, including the handrail, vertical supports, newel and finial. Each component serves its own purpose and comes in an array of design options. When looking for Toronto railings, there are a wide variety of building materials, components and options.

Interior Railings

Interior railings are an often overlooked part of home remodels, yet are an important step to remember when finishing interior rooms. Selecting the right rail can put that finishing touch on your room, whereas leaving an outdated or mismatched rail has a tendency to leave the final product looking not quite finished. As is the case for many types of railings, interior staircase railings come in a variety of materials, shapes, sizes and finishes. Shaped wrought iron rails are a great way to bring in some old-world charm in a new way. Wood railings and handrails are fairly standard in many homes – hand rails are an important safety feature to accompany any set of stairs. Bring your personality into your home by updating your home using M.E Railing.

Deck Railings

Adding a deck to your home is a great way to expand your livable space without incurring huge costs. With the right set of furniture and decorations, such as throw pillows for exterior furniture, your deck can become a full outdoor living space and is likely to end up your favorite room in the whole house.
Decks can be placed on the ground level with slight elevation or on higher levels of the house with deck-to-ground stabilization. Given the heights that often accompany decks, it is important to have solid, trusted railings to protect your friends and family from falls. Even if your deck is only slightly elevated, it is a good idea to install a quality, sturdy railing – as a wrong step or stumble off even the lowest of decks can mean a twisted ankle.
When choosing the right type of deck railing for your space, look no further than M.E Railing. There are a variety of building materials and design options offered by M.E Railing so that you can customize your look and your space. As you consider which type of railing is right for your space, it is important to consider both aesthetics and functionality.
Deck railings come in a variety of materials, including composite, metal, wood, vinyl, and more. Each material has its own unique look and set of benefits. For example, wood is often a cheaper option, but requires quite a bit of upkeep whereas composite can match existing materials like wood, yet requires less maintenance – this, of course, comes with a larger price tag.
One other thing to keep in mind as you develop your estimate for installing a deck with railings, is that this type of railing is primarily for safety reasons – as such, budget for rails that are a minimum of 100 to 150 cm high. This height is imperative to ensuring that your rails do not in themselves become a safety hazard.

What to Look for in Toronto Railings

As you consider which vendor is the right match for you to partner with for your Toronto railings, make sure that the vendor you choose is licensed and experienced. Make sure that they are aware of safety regulations and various stairway railing products. Each type of staircase railing has its own purpose and each person has their own design preference – as such, your vendor should take the time to meet with you to assess your needs, rather than giving you an out-of-the-box, one size fits all solution. Carefully consider where you will use the railing, your design and aesthetic preferences and what type of materials you prefer. Having your list prepared as you begin to shop will ensure you find the right Toronto railings for your home or business.

M.E Railing is one of the most reputable and quality railings company in Toronto so don’t hesitate to get in touch and call us today!
